Lenny Kravitz has been in the news recently, not only has he just turned 60 whilst admitting to not having sex for 9 years ? But, he also opened the Champions league final event at Wembley, having launched his book “Let Love Rule” and releasing a new album “Blue Electric Light” his 12th studio album no less, he continues to be a busy artist for sure.
Much of the above got me thinking of the time I got to see him live at wembley arena back in 2004, my god that’s 20 years ago I hear you cry!
My son James and I have been to a good number of gigs over the years and from memory this was one of the first big gigs for sure !
As memory fades ? What do I remember?
It was early July and James had just finished his work at the all England club, that’s Wimbledon to you and I. It was a hot summer, beer 🍺 was needed before, during and after the gig (we stayed over at a nearby hotel) I remember sitting on the arena floor (with beer) waiting for the show, seemed like forever!
Finally, Mr Kravitz and band took to the stage and it rocked, covering songs from his first 7 albums and promoting the latest release “Baptism” the set included many favorites including “American Woman” and “Fly Away”
There were a couple of costume changes, the band and backing singers provided great support to the main man but, all too quickly the 13 song show was over and it was off into the London night for….. another beer 🍺 or two.
Luckily, James had snapped a couple photos as a small reminder of a great memory.
Are you gonna go my way
